spendy time

bigger and better stars! I am down to just doing filler on this wall hanging and seeing all the pieces come together. I did have one section come together as a hot mess but the rest of these came out nice enough.
this is what an out-of-control spending spree looks like to me
My spouse and I are super frugal generally, but this weekend we ended up in places spending money on things in a way that was unusual (and not great! we just had a big vet bill!). No regrets though!
It started with hair dye - I dyed my bleached hair a vivid color (like I have been off and on for twenty years) and immediately felt the familiar panic of judgement from others, judgement from family months from now, and also the fear of judgement around my age (I'll be cruising into my forties soon, which normally I'm pretty stoked about). Is crazy-colored hair a grownup decision? Will parents judge me at Back to School night? it's endless. And I always conclude that yeah, life is short, have fun. Adding age into the calculus of self-doubt is a new problem to wrestle with.
I bought a very cool horse drawing from a really talented painter I've seen around since I moved here. He cut up his sketchbook and sold his drawings for a song, and I love this one.

We went thrifting, and to Target to grab something I couldn't find anywhere else. We stopped by the stationery aisle for all the back to school stuff and I was amazed to find this mixed zebra pen/highlighter set, all in colors I would have chosen myself.
The Tightwad's Gazette was, naturally, found in a thrift store. I will get back to being a weirdo who re-uses everything soon.

This mug from the sun bear exhibit at the San Diego Zoo stole my heart. I looked it up and the exhibit opened in 1989, so this mug was probably made within the years right after when it was a big attraction.

habits and goals:
I've been eating okay, went to bed on time, meditated, did cardio, walked the dog, and spent very little time online except to continue to nerd out about On-Together and playing the fishing games to dress up my stupid little person. But you know what I wasn't doing? Doomscrolling.
I also checked into my work email after months away. School is coming. Phew.
