thinking about
- I met someone who sells golfcart parts and accessories and I got to ask what his days are like
- building trust with middle schoolers takes time, food helps
- I am tired of hearing about AI
- I am consumed by researching plants for my garden and what seeds need a lil cold vs which ones need to be started indoors vs which ones want a single direct sow into warm soil. Coming from a different climate has made everything new and exciting
- Being outside all of the time and soaking in the sun
social

Last weekend went to a little picnic celebrating the ephemeral plants of spring! We went on a cute little walk to find snowdrops (above) and skunk cabbage, and attendees carried little flower sculptures. I want to overlap with this friend group again :)

This weekend I hiked in Patapsco State Park with some friends. We visited these church ruins that look straight out of one of my spouse's video games. The sun was out and I was itching to hop in the river - soon, but not yet.

projects

I made shortbread for the first time! I went for a Scottish-style recipe after having some Scottish shortbread for Christmas this past year.
It came out a bit underdone (we have a cold oven) but still delicious. I'll try to figure out the cooking time with this oven and bake it again.

It's officially been a year since we moved in! I am still finding spaces I haven't given much time or thought to and making them ours. Spouse does not care to decorate, and I love it.
This back patio is kind of a blank slate still. Weird awning, flaking black paint on the metal floor, weird decorative metal on the balcony... and now I add my hideous but beloved zero-gravity chair and a table I thrifted (that is too blue). I am keeping an eye out at thrift stores and estate sales as I work on getting this space more pleasant.

I have never done macrame in my life and I was an avowed hater in the 2016 macrame revival. I think it's a knee-jerk response to well-meaning non-art-teachers suggesting I lead a macrame project in art class (usually one that involves just following instructions, with no artistic choices). Now that I have more time in the evenings not making art for my business, I can just develop craft and follow instructions and learn skills with my hands without worrying about creativity.
This will be a privacy curtain for the cursed patio.
Not pictured: I bought some salvinia and temple for my medaka bowl, I raked pine needles until I got a blister, I set up new and old garden beds and mulched. I'm going to try poppies, sweet peas, and sunflowers in the front yard.

I love Baltimore. I bought an Orioles hat at Costco so I am a Sports Fan this season, watch out world
